one year cancerversary

A year ago today, I knew I would get the call. I kept myself busy while I waited. I met Michele at the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market (it’s open everyday). I bought flowers, mostly annuals. We enjoyed fancy coffee drinks, took our youngests to Wild Rumpus bookstore and parted ways. I took Phoebe to an afternoon camp and drove home. I grabbed my gardening gloves, kept … Continue reading one year cancerversary

one more chemo

As I write that, I’m really thinking, “I hope only one more.” Everyday that we are shrinking this tumor, I’m thinking about when and where the cancer will come back. We don’t know if it will, but recurrence is always in the back of my mind. I just need to be honest with you about that. This is why everyday I need to stay right … Continue reading one more chemo

picture of pictures

Wasn’t this wise of her to take these pictures? Thank you, Michele.  I usually only like pictures that are flattering. I don’t look so great in these. But, I’m just glad that this moment was captured.        Continue reading picture of pictures

brent came home from work and liked what he saw and made me pose for this picture. i love him so much.

thirteenth chemz with brent

two chemo drugs. adriamycin and cytoxan. i was scared. we survived.
two days later, my good friend jenny, brought me back to the hospital to get my shot to boost the white blood count. yikes! in my belly!!

twelfth chemz solo/with michele

I started off the infusion by myself, but then Michele came with lots of healthy salads. Yum! Of course, I forgot to get a pic at chemo. Good thing, we had book club that night. Here's almost all of us. (Missed you, Alice!!) It was bittersweet to complete the 12th cycle. It was a milestone, but I was scared to start the next round.

eleventh chemz with liz

I spent the first part of chemo chillin' solo. I was so worn out that napping through chemo sounded amazing. I rested a little and then woke to a text from Liz offering to come sit with me. The timing was perfect. Also, I got four new hats from the hospital. I can't have too many these days.

tenth chemz with avery

Avery joined me this week. His last Wednesday before he heads back to school. He's good company. We watched Tommy Boy. And played with this wig.

ninth chemz with mollz

the last pic of molly and i to hit the internet was one where we both had been bawling our eyes out. she's pretty flipping fantastic. a lifeline. steve palmer also came over and brought heathy snacks and we didn't get a pic. bummer. next time, steve!

eighth chemz with marty

Pic taken a few days later. Forgot to get one at the hospital. I love Marty. Everyone does. Chemo was a good reason to get together with someone I don't see very often, but could never tire of.

seventh chemz with family

special guests. my dad, mom, jillian and phoebe! even though i was there 9:30-3:30, the day flew by. lots of happy visits with friends and family.

sixth chemz with sarah

Sarah and I have been friends for 14 years. We laughed, we cried, we met Rebekkah. Rebekkah walked through the infusion floor, hooked up to her chemo passing out roses to everyone. It was beautiful.

fifth chemz with brent

White blood count is back up! Brent is my favorite.

fourth chemz with neely and miles

laughing, neverending story, miles LOVED the snack selection

third chemz with michele

the time flew and the chemo went as smoothly as possible. counts were good and there were no reactions.

second chemz with adrienne

my sis neely was there most of the time, but we didn't get a picture

first chemz with brent

comforting, calm, mostly good day
